UPDATE: Wheeler Confirmed > In Slap To The Face Of Mother Earth, Trump To Nominate Andrew Wheeler As EPA Chief

On November 27, 2018, Smart Dissent posted the following on Andrew Wheeler.  Last week on February 28, 2019, Wheeler was confirmed to succeed Scott Pruitt.  He is just an evil but much more equipped to destroy our Earth without being noticed. We are in very serious trouble.

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Andrew R. Wheeler to be the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, giving oversight of the nation’s air and water to a former coal lobbyist and seasoned Washington insider.

The vote, 52-47, went mostly along party lines and underscored partisan divisions over the Trump administration’s continued commitment to repealing environmental regulations under Mr. Wheeler.

Nearly eight months after taking over the chief role from Mr. Pruitt, who was known for his combative style, analysts said Mr. Wheeler had brought a change in demeanor to the agency but virtually no difference in policy direction from his predecessor.

Mr. Wheeler has moved to dramatically weaken two of former President Obama’s signature climate change initiatives, cutting emissions from power plants and from automobiles, while also proposing to make new coal-fired power plantseasier to approve.

He also has also sought to unwind the legal justification for curbing toxic mercury emissions from power plantslimit federal protection of small waterways, and dismissed a panel of independent scientific advisers.

Wow, An industry wishlist and now one of their own is in charge.  Disgusting,

Andrew Wheeler has been the acting head of the EPA following Pruitt's resignation in July 2018.  While the shocking utter corruption of Pruitt pushed him out of power, we now have Wheeler to worry about destroying our globe.

Trump said Friday [11/16/18] that he intends to nominate former industry lobbyist Andrew Wheeler as the Environmental Protection Agency’s next administrator, a move that would ensure a continued deregulatory push at the agency.

Wheeler, just like Pruitt, doesn't believe the EPA shold exist.  He believes companies should be free to act as they choose to maximize profit regardless of the impact on our people and our earth.

Wheeler and his predecessor have this in common — a zeal to deregulate. Wheeler made clear from the start that he intends to carry out many of the regulatory rollbacks set in motion under Pruitt, and to pursue new ones.   Wheeler has long worked behind the scenes on energy and environmental policy and generally avoids public attention.

Wheeler has continued to advance Trump’s agenda, proposing rules to loosen carbon limits on power plants and relax fuel-efficiency standards for cars and light trucks. Those proposals, along with moves to change the way the agency calculates the health benefits of new air-pollution standards, have sparked sharp criticism from environmental and public health groups.

This issue here continues to be the same: an EPA that is being destroyed from within.  BUT in this case, Wheeler is quietly doing so while Pruitt flamed out.

Where virtually all of Mr. Pruitt’s hastily written rollbacks and suspensions have been blocked by the courts, Mr. Wheeler has taken a far more deliberative approach, immersing himself in the legal intricacies — a strategy that could make Mr. Wheeler one of the most effective drivers of the Trump administration’s ambitious plan to rewrite the nation’s rule book on the environment and climate.

Where Mr. Pruitt sought the limelight, Mr. Wheeler sweats the details. And that could make him a far more formidable weapon than his predecessor in the Trump administration’s vast reshaping of environmental and climate rules.

The biggest POLLUTERS in our world love Wheeler.  Of course they do since he's a long time lobbyist working to help them,

Scott Segal, an energy lobbyist at the Bracewell law firm, called Wheeler “a good pick.”

As an energy lobbyist since 2009, Mr. Wheeler’s top client was Robert E. Murray, the chief executive of one of the country’s largest coal companies, a fierce opponent of E.P.A. climate change regulations and a denier of established climate science.

As stated back in April 2018, predicting this mess: “Andrew Wheeler is Big Oil’s backup plan in case Scott Pruitt’s corruption finally finishes him.  As Scott Pruitt stumbles from scandal to scandal, there is nothing more dangerous than a dirty-energy lobbyist waiting in the wings to become acting Administrator," said Lukas Ross, climate and energy campaigner at the advocacy group Friends of the Earth.
