Trump Admin Seeks to End Program That Attracts Foreign Entrepreneurs

The thing about Republican's xenophobia is that it's impartial.  What we mean is that they hate literally everyone who isn't exactly like them.

Click on Smart Dissent's Immigration page and you'll see headlines for dozens of pages of their actions to remove anyone non-white from the country they can.  Muslims, Mexican, refugees previously granted emergency status, Latin American's seeking asylum, new restrictions on legal immigration, lowering of refugee acceptance, and much more.  Here's a new one:

The Trump administration moved on Friday [May 25, 2018] to end a program that aimed to attract foreign entrepreneurs to the United States....

The rule aimed to help keep foreign entrepreneurs in the United States by giving them a workaround to existing visas. It says foreigners building "fast-growing businesses" could apply for "parole status" to work in the United States. Parole status is typically granted to individuals who need a visa to work on humanitarian or medical relief.

The program would have allowed foreign entrepreneurs to stay in the United States for up to five years to manage and grow start-up businesses.

The Department of Homeland Security’s formal proposal to rescind the international entrepreneur rule.... was widely expected....the administration of Trump, which has moved to sharply curtail both legal and illegal immigration, [previously] delayed the program’s effective date to March 2018, while also indicating it would later rescind it entirely.

It's a small thing compared to so much else going on, yet it tells the story so clearly: It doesn't matter how much you can benefit the United States, you aren't welcome if you don't fit the Republican prototype.
