New Trump Proclamation Expands Muslim Ban to New Countries

The White House signed an second Muslim Ban executive order on March 6th intending to achieve the same effects as the first one which was rejected.  The second one was also rejected on March 15th.  On June 26th, the Supreme Court weighed in, allowing limited parts of the Muslim Ban to be implemented.  Despite all of this, Trump's Administration quietly implemented a Muslim Ban using bureaucratic measures

The xenophobic efforts continued on Sunday, September 24th when a new proclamation was issued banning travel to the U.S. from seven countries.

Starting next month, most citizens of Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad and North Korea will be indefinitely banned from entering the United States.... Five countries in the previous ban remain under restriction: Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia. Chad, North Korea and Venezuela have been added.

Citizens of Iraq and some groups of people in Venezuela who seek to visit the United States will face restrictions or heightened scrutiny.  Each of the countries will be under its own set of travel restrictions, though in most cases citizens of the countries will be unable to emigrate to the United States personally and most will be barred from coming to work, study or vacation in America.... the new travel restrictions will be in place indefinitely...

Perhaps Trump's cronies knew the original Muslim Ban would be eviscerated in courts this October and pre-emptively changed the game by switching to a new Muslim Ban under a different name.

“This is an apparent effort to paper over the original sin of the Muslim ban, especially when just last week Trump said he wanted a ‘larger, tougher, more specific’ ban,” said Anthony D. Romero, the executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union.
