Budget Cuts Series 2021: Federal Employee Retirement Benefits

Smart Dissent's budget cuts series continues for the 2021 fiscal year budget as Trump seeks to inflict harm to everyone who doesn't bribe him.  Here's part four in an unending series in which individuals who give their lives in service of our country are treated like trash.

Trump has again proposed reducing the value of federal retirement benefits while requiring most federal employees to pay more toward those benefits.

...calls for requiring employees covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System to increase the amount they must pay toward their retirement benefits.

In some cases, the benefits would be reduced for....those already retired....

Our source noted below includes numerous details of these savage proposals and how they are proposed to be implemented.  To be concise, we suggest you read that article if interested in understanding this fully.

Tony Reardon, president of the National Treasury Employees Union, said in a statement, “For the fourth year in a row, Trump’s budget proposal would starve federal agencies to the point of paralysis, pick the pockets of middle-class federal workers and their families, weaken our nation’s nonpartisan, merit-based civil service, and deprive Americans of the basic services and protections they expect from their government.”

Also wow at this:

The budget also proposes a 1 percent pay increase for federal employees while recommending 3 percent for military personnel.

Legislation already has been introduced in the House and Senate by several Democrats for an average 2021 raise of 3.5 percent.

An annual comparison by a federal salary advisory council.... finds that federal employees are substantially underpaid — by 27 percent on average in the most recent report
